Description

Keep the children waiting patiently until Eid with this fabric Ramadan calendar that you fill yourself. The thirty pockets can be filled with whatever you like: a sweet treat, a little toy, a kind note or a voucher to exchange. Each evening, one pocket is opened and the house counts the days that remain.

The bags are cut from a thick canvas printed with motifs of the holy month: moons, lanterns, mosques, teapots and prayer books. Three colours play off each other, beige, yellow and midnight blue, and each pocket carries its number embroidered in a light shade. The fabric can be washed and stored for the following year.

The set includes thirty pockets in two sizes, fifteen of 10.5 × 15.5 cm and fifteen of 13.5 × 18.5 cm, with thirty wooden pegs and ten metres of string. This Ramadan calendar can be stretched along a wall, a stair rail or a window. It is for families who want to decorate the home and give the children an evening ritual.

Our verdict on this Ramadan calendar

Review written by the Air d’Orient team · Updated on 20 September 2026

We read the feedback from buyers of this Ramadan calendar to pick out what comes up most often, good and not so good.

The strong points

  • A thick canvas that lasts from one year to the next: the crisp printing and washable fabric come up often in the feedback.
  • Thirty motifs that do not repeat: moons, lanterns, mosques and teapots, in beige, yellow and midnight blue.
  • Two pocket sizes: fifteen small and fifteen large, for a sweet as much as for a real gift.
  • An evening ritual that children enjoy: families describe the excitement of the pocket to open each day.

Good to know

  • The wooden pegs are thin: a well-filled pocket makes them let go: a drawing pin or a small hook holds better.
  • The small pockets are narrow at the top: keep thick gifts for the fifteen large ones, and sweets for the others.

Where we lean: for a family looking for a reusable decoration and a moment to share each evening, this Ramadan calendar does its job. If you prefer an object that sits on a piece of furniture rather than a garland to stretch out, the wooden calendar below stands up on its own. The rest of the decor for the month is in our religious festival decorations.

Hymarvo, HOWAF, DPKOW or ARTREE?

The same fill-it-yourself Ramadan calendar exists from several brands. Here is how this model compares with the three other most popular versions.

The HOWAF fabric calendar comes as a single large banner to hang, with all the pockets sewn onto the same piece of fabric. It looks pretty on a clear wall, but you no longer choose the shape of the garland, and one unstitched pocket spoils the whole. This Ramadan calendar keeps its thirty pockets separate, to hang however you like.

The DPKOW calendar with thirty pockets plays the white-and-gold card, with thirty pockets to fill and a string supplied. Its decor is plainer and suits light interiors. Its pockets are all the same size, whereas this Ramadan calendar offers two formats to vary the gifts.

The wooden ARTREE calendar is a different kind of object: it is made of wood, assembled once, with numbers that you move. It stands on a console table and lasts through the years without creasing. It needs room and costs more than a canvas garland, and its compartments take smaller gifts.

Your questions about this Ramadan calendar

Do the pockets carry all the numbers from 1 to 30?

The thirty numbers are printed in advance, one per pocket. A few sets received contained a duplicate or a missing number: count them when you open the parcel, before hanging them. Any discrepancy can be settled within the return window of the parcel.

From what age does this Ramadan calendar amuse children?

From three or four, the age at which they understand the countdown and can open a pocket by themselves. Older children also use it as a message box. In a Ramadan calendar to fill, the content is up to you: sweets, small toys, kind notes or vouchers to exchange.

What is the difference from the wooden ARTREE calendar?

The ARTREE model is a miniature piece of furniture that you stand up and keep for years, with interchangeable numbers. This Ramadan calendar is a canvas garland, lighter, that you stretch where you like and that can be washed. The canvas takes up less room and stores flat after Eid.
